About Karen:
Karen is a true passionate dancer that believes in “dancing from the heart and soul”. Her love for hip hop dance began seven years ago, taking classes from her now dance crew member Masaki, together with Akio, the trio formed “triple rebels” in 2007 and have performed in club events throughout Sydney.
Her love for hip hop grew even stronger when she lived in Japan in 2004, where she trained in the dance form as well as researched and interviewed about the Japanese hip hop culture and history. Whilst in Japan, she also developed a passion for dancehall and when she returned to Sydney in 2005, she formed a female dance crew, “sakura”, where they performed hip hop and dancehall in clubs and festivals across Sydney, Japan and Korea.
Over the past 2 years, her devotion for dance led her to Broadway Dance Center in NYC where she was able to study all styles of street dance including hip hop, poppin, lockin, breaking, house, wackkin, vogue and street jazz with some of the pioneers of these styles such as Brian Green, Bam Bam, Ejoe Wilson, Jazzy J, Archie Burnette, Shabba-doo and Tyrone. She was also trained in jazz and ballet and discovered a new passion for tap dancing as well as West African dance.
Karen believes that one can never stop learning. She would like to share her international dance knowledge and experiences as a dancer and a student to further develop herself. She feels that “everyone can dance, I will bring out the dancer in you!”

for thurs any of the hip hop classes available are perfect for beginner.
akio classes at 430 is a very poppy class
DMO classes at 730pm is a more contemporary interpretation of hip hop
Masaki’s 8:30pm bring back the old school feel of the 80′s and 90′s.
i also recommend the Dancehall class by Karen on sundays 12pm.
