Megu from Hottie Cat

In 2001 Hottie Cat was made by Megu and Chie who are Reggae dancers in Japan. They appear in a lot of TV programs and DVDs in Japan such as super chample, PV of BOYKEN, Southern All Stars, RYO the Skywalker.

They often go to Jamaica to learn real dance and music.
Megu will be happy to share her knowledge and skill with everyone!!

a bit about ANDEE:-

Andee aka Wacckedee started dancing and performing at the age of 7 and has been trained in hip hop, street jazz, jazz funk and waacking by internationally renown pioneers and dance legend such as Tyrone, Princesses lockeroo, Princess 1G.

Andee has conducted numerous workshops and judged many dance battles/competitions since 2008. He has also entered any dance competitions including Singapore Dance Delight 2010 (Finalist), Live it up without light up 2010 hip hop dance competition (champion) and King of Hits Queen of Beats 2011 waacking battle judged by Tyrone (top 4). He’s also recently choreographed for Bossini’s “Be happy” dance video with local celebrity Kelly Poon.

STREET JAZZ- this workshop welcomes dancers of any level and experience. Come and join us for 1.5hr of street jazz choreography, fun, great vibes and sharing/exchanging knowledge!

23rd JAN (mon) 6-730pm
WAACKING – this is also an open level workshop where beginners will learn the foundations of waacking, and those with more experiences will work on character, musicality and battle techniques.

workshops are $30 each (10 pass cards excepted – 3 boxes)

Merry Xmas and A Hip Hop New Year

Dancekool would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Dancekool Parramatta will be closed from 19th December 2011 and Re-opens on the 6th of January 2012.

Dancekool City Studio will be closed from 24th December 2011 and Re-opens on the 4th of January 2012

NYE 2011 where will you be – Welcoming the new year in a cramped night club somewhere with strangers and crappy music?

Why not welcome in the New Year with Dancekool Family down at Pyrmont Point Park. Pyrmont Point Park is a great vantage point to watch the fireworks and an awesome spot to relax or party the night away.

What a turn out or the Hyped Up BBQ on Sunday afternoon. We had about 50 ppl turn up in shorts, singlets and flip flops. We brought down the speakers and David behind the decks, It was like Dancekool’s version of Park Life. Music was and pumping all afternoon and we managed to entertained a lot of other park goers too.
At one staged we had three BBQs going to feed the army of dancers. We ended the afternoon with a twilight encore Hyped Up showcases from all crews including Happy Feet, Patrick’s Popping Class, Akio’s kids and hip hop class, Masaki’s HH, Eriko’s Class, Liverpool st Familia, Lyzz and Momoka’s hula crew, Gagsta, Karen’s girls crew and Waackeisha. Talitha gave us an awesome acrobatic display of tumbling and acrobatics.

To continue the Hyped Up Season 4 celebration there will be a mini battle this Sunday hosted by Leah Mcfly AKA Waackeisha and Dancekool. Be sure to join us Sunday arvo for a boogie.

Story of “Chocolate” – FUND RAISER
Chocolate is a stateless orphan from Burma, currently living in Baan Unrak (House of Happiness) – an orphanage and community relief center for children and destitute woman located in the mountain border of Burma and Thailand. Ever since discovering street dance 3 years ago, his dream is to become a professional dancer. He started a dance crew and is teaching other children in the orphanage. His dedication, commitment and passion moved all the volunteers and staffs and fate found Triple Rebels (Karen, Masaki and Akio) visiting Baan Unrak and neighbouring refugee camps in 2009 to teach dance as volunteers. Unfortunately the day that I meant Chocolate (aged 12) was also the day that his mother passed away. He was very depressed and mentioned that he may not be able join the dance classes, however after a few hours, I will never forget how his face changed, he was shining like a star and dancing his little heart out. He even led his crew and did a show for us.
Over the last few years, he has continued to dance and teach, and is currently in the process of getting a scholarship at the Thailand Center of Performing Arts. Since he is a stateless Orphan, he has no paper work, no ID, in fact, all the children’s clothes are donated from charities and have NO shoes!

We aim to donate 50% of all proceeds from HYPED UP to help chocolate:-
- get his legal paper work to pursue his dreams of becoming a dancer
- to help with basic living expenses and necessities for dance (clothes, shoes etc)

The word “Toprock” came in “during the mixing of both Black and Latino styles to form the foundation of Breakin we have today.
Top Rock is the vertical dance style of Original Bronx BBoys.” (Mr Wiggles). Now this is something that you don’t see everyday – a WHOLE lot of foot work and FLAVA in break dancing, not just tricks and flips!
